I think that I would be a good SmartGirl mentor because I'm a boy, which means I can offer a different perspective on questions that SmartGirls have. As a guy who is no longer a teenager, I also have the wisdom I gained from surviving high school and my teens.

Growing up is hard. It's so easy to be confused and overwhelmed. While I don't think growing up gets any easier, I think we get better at learning from our past and making good decisions. Part of that comes from asking others about their experiences and learning from those too. To this end, one of my favorite things is listening to people's stories and talking about their lives. Hopefully everyone learns something and can grow for the better.

When I'm struggling with a problem the first thing I do is tell myself to change perspective. Looking at a situation from a new direction can offer a lot of insight. Sometimes we need other people to help us do this. Asking questions and looking at many different perspectives before making a decision is a great way to feel comfortable with it.

I hope I can offer you a helpful and new perspective.
