Friendship Survey Summary

Smart girls decide for themselves.™

In November and December of 2001, SmartGirl put out a survey asking you all about friendship.  Nearly 400 people filled out this survey (which was designed to be taken in pairs), with almost 94% being female.  The average age was right around 14 years old.

The first question we asked was “How many years have the two of you known each other?”  Here’s a graph depicting your answers:

SmartGirl asked, “How often do the two of you hang out?”

  • 40.7% said that they hang out every day

  • 32.5% said 3-5 times a week

  • 9.3% said once a week or once a month

  • 10.3% said two or more times a month

  • 7.2% said too infrequently

Based on the survey, 40.7% of people reported that they hang out with their friend every day, and 75.1% of people say that they live in the same town as their friend. This shows that there is a strong correlation between location and proximity.

SmartGirl asked, “Do the two of you live in the same town?

  • 24.9% said no

  • 75.1% said yes
