A White Lie

by Lady Syd, age 16

Hey y'all! I've been stealing money from the girls' locker room, and the funny thing is that none of them would suspect me. Now that I got caught, all of them have been acting shitty to me, and I can understand that, but dayummm. They asked me if I saw anyone going to the locker room and I said no and told them that I was in ISD. The thing I hate now is that now they know who was stealing money... and honestly I don't even know why I stole it. I guess I wanted money... but I'm really not like that, and after I got caught, I dug myself to the bottom of the pit--Loserville--and I'm not really a loser inside. I wish I could rewind my life. I wouldn't have stolen that shit. Now I'm known as a thief, and that's gonna be hard to live down...

Lies, Lies, Lies

by Brittany, age 15

Lying: first you do something bad, then you lie about doing it (also bad), then you keep lying, and keep on until it's unhealthy for you. Soon, you'll grow up lying, then you'll have children who lie, and they'll have children, and they'll have children...

The Lie For My Best Friend's Happiness

by Yusrina, age 15

One day my best friend said he loved me. I though I loved him, too, but I didn't say it right then because I had a choice between him or other people. I said I would think about it. He wanted an answer after 3 days.

On the final day, I had to choose. I decided to choose my best freind, but when I went to talk to him, he said he loved another girl besides me. When I saw the girl, I thought he would be more happy with her. I said: "Go with her, I hope you will be happy with her," and he left me alone.

I lied! And I kept lying when I would see him happy with the other girl. I just smiled when he told me he was happy. And the girl came to me and she wanted to be my friend. After one month, she said she didn't love him, that she loved someone else, a person who was the friend of my best friend.

Now my best friend is very angry with me. He thought I forbid the girl to see him. Now, my best friend doesn't talk to me anymore. I am so very sorry. If I hadn't lied, he would be with me now.

But I can't tell him even if I do miss him because I have a boyfriend. But I promise I will not tell a lie again.

So don't tell a lie, even if it's a little lie. Be honest. It would have been better for me and it will be better for you. I hope you'll never have a story like my story. It will break your heart, and you will lose your best friend...

The Liar

by grce, age 9

There is a person at my school who lies. She/e must think it is really funny because they put things on the news board like "CHEERLEADING PRACTICE TONIGHT AT 9:00 PM," then everyone will show up and realize that there wasn't one. So my point is: lieing is wrong.

Lie

by Vany, age 19

Why do people lie? It's always a question around us. Our parents lie, our friends, our teachers, our relatives; everyone really does lie, and if you ask them why, they'll say it's for something good. We tell lies to save our friends so they won't be in detention or sometimes we tell lies just so our parents will let us do our math assignment at our friend's house--even though the truth is that there is a party there.

But for me I think that kind of lying is bad. After all, let's just take an example: you tell a lie to your teacher just to cover for your friend, you think your friend will learn a lesson? No. So I think it's better if you just tell the truth, even though you know your friend will get mad at you. In the end, your friend will benefit from it. You see, a single lie can change your entire life. It can ruin a life. You may never notice, but it slowly does. So before acting, thinkand listen to what your heart says. Do not lie on what it tells you to do.

Untitled

by Allysia, age 12

It's not always wrong to tell a lie. For example, if your friend tells you a secret and another girl asks you, it's okay to say that you don't know. If you said that you did know, girl would probably pester you until you gave in. You should only tell lies if they are for a good reason and have good consequences, such as keeping a surprise unknown or protecting yourself from strangers.

Untitled

by Angel, age 11

Lying is what some call a funny little tale, but what is lying really? It's not a funny tale. No, lying is an offence to the ones you're lying to. No matter who you are, you need to know that lying is a curse which you must understand.

Lying will haunt you no matter where you go,
so do not stand there waiting for the blow.

The Truth

by Han, age 16

The truth will set you free. The truth would have us well on our way to a Utopian world. If everybody stood up on a table and admitted to the world that they were far, far from perfect, that they long to love those around them but are afraid, taht they feel just as lonely and just as hungry for a better world as everyone else, well wouldn't that help us to move forward toward a better world?

We are not eveil. We are not cruel. Human beings, innately, are good. We can see this in such things as guilt and the ceaseless nagging of our conscience. Therefore, although we are wear and thus all of us have our fair share of not-so-great things going on in our minds and things that we have done, we truly have nothing to hide. They are weaknesses, yes, but we would all like to overcome them.

To be open, to be truthful, is to express our true sentiments. If these sentiments are well-meaning as they inherently are in human beings (on the whole), then the truth will be good for us rather than bad. The truth will always, always set us free. While it is sometimes wrong to tella lie (more often than not), it is never wrong to tell the truth. No matter what harm it brings, it is the truth that will have the most positive effects in the long run for humanity.

For every sin and wrong that we commit, we must understand and reflect upon why we id what we have done and make a commitment to try not to do it again. We must forgive ourselves, learn from our wrongs, and move on. A lie, no matter how small or how "white," will always, always have a negative effect somewhere, in no matter how small a way. This is due to the fact that living in deceit, living in a way that is based on something that is untrue, will always have a negative impact. No matter how small the issue, the truth is the only thing that can move us forward.

I do not remember any horrible lies that I have told. I have been committed to truth my entire life because that is the only thing that will make the human race better. If we told the truth, if we searched for truth constantly, every day of our lives, we would realizet hat love could solve all of our most difficult problems and that bigotry, hatred, and deceit have no place in this world that longs to be good.

Because we are human beings, no matter how many shoes we buy or how many babies we kill, we will always have a small but fundamental feeling in the backs of our minds that the world should be better. It is openly admitting this yearning that will bring us toward the world that we all envision.

To Lie or Not To Lie

by Lucy, age 12

'Lie' is a confusing word. It means different things to different people. I believe in telling the truth most of the time, but we are all human and we all have our glitches. Sometimes I think it's best to tell little white lies if it could affect other persons feelings. So the big question is: what does 'lie' mean? In my opinion, a lie is not the truth, but not the oppisite. Hope you liked it! x

The Fragile One Who Cannot Lie

by Marisa, age 12

Lies. Lies are a part of life. Without lying, life would not be the same. Yes, lies can lead to big problems, but one has to understand that sometimes it is okay to lie. Without lying, life would be very different. It is OK to lie at certain times.

I don't tell big lies because I am a fragile person. If I do something wrong, it may stay with me and haunt me.

Lying can lead to big problems. You have to think ahead and see what you are doing. You should ask yourself, "If I tell this lie, will it hurt anyone? Will it lead to big problems?" THINK FIRST!
